Property club gains fresh insight

Members of an Eastbourne property club were given an insight into latest trends within the construction sector by a leading industry spokesman.

Stewart Pierce, commercial and financial director of parkers, addressed members of the Property Club run by Mike Reid, of Reid+Dean.

Mr. Pierce gave his views on how the construction industry is recovering from the recession and the continued expansion of Uckfield-based Parker Building Supplies across the South East.

He also spoke about his role as deputy chairman of the Builders Merchants Federation, a national network of merchants and their suppliers.

Mr Pierce said: “The construction industry represents 8% of UK GDP and employs over three million people. It is always the first to suffer in recession but also the barometer for indicating recovery. A fear of the upturn was that artificial manipulation and incentives regarding House Purchase Schemes could create a demand and supply situation fuelling price escalation.”

Mr Reid, said: “Property Club was privileged to welcome Stewart to speak on the subject of the construction industry and trends. There was a good turn-out for the meeting with 35 people from all sectors of the property industry coming along to hear him speak.”
