Maidstone business park continues to expand

An impressive new office building in an established and successful business park on the outskirts of Maidstone has been completed.

The new Grade A office building at Hermitage Court in Barming has a lettable area of 5,150 sq ft, brings the total floor space at Hermitage Court to 42,000 sq ft. Seven companies are located at Hermitage Court, including Havas Shared Services, Kent Community NHS Trust, mcch, SECOM and the Royal British Legion. It won’t be long before another company joins the existing tenants, as office space at this successful business park is highly sought after by companies wanting to benefit from its prime location.

It is only 1.5 miles from Junction 5 of the M20 so is ideally situated for fast access to London, the M25, Ashford and the Channel Ports. Yet it is in a tranquil countryside setting with impressive views over beautiful countryside.

The new office building, known as Unit G, was built on a speculative basis by Gallagher Properties Ltd, part of the Gallagher Group, that decided that despite a slowdown in the construction industry, now was the right time to develop.

It has a very attractive design, including a high quality, low maintenance cladding system and Kentish Ragstone feature walls.

Its Kentish Ragstone was sourced from Gallagher’s nearby Hermitage Quarry, and was chosen as it blends in with much of Kent’s existing architecture. For over 2000 years Kentish Ragstone has been the hard rock of Kent.

The building also benefits from excellent allocated parking, landscaping, comfort cooling and heating, a feature glazed atrium and an eight- person passenger lift. The 5,150 sq ft building can be home to a single occupier or up to four smaller companies, all on a leasehold basis.

Completion of Unit G follows the construction of another office building at Hermitage Court last year, Unit H, which was pre-let to Havas Shared Services, one of the world’s largest global advertising and communications groups.

Last year Havas was looking to move out of its tired Maidstone town centre offices and needed a more modern base, and Unit H fitted the bill perfectly. It signed the leasehold on Unit H before it was even finished, early last year.

“Since we moved into our new offices at Hermitage Court I have lost count of the number of positive comments that have been made about our offices and location, from staff and visitors. With it being such an attractive building that is so close to the motorway but totally in the country, it is easy to see why everyone is impressed,” said Paul Woodhouse, Havas shared services’ chief financial officer.
