Ellie Searle, a paralegal at Loch Law, has been declared ‘Paralegal of the Year’ at 2022’s Kent Junior Law Division.

Supported by the Law Society, the awards were presented at the Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and District Law Society Annual Dinner earlier this month.

Ellie joined Loch Law, part of Loch Associates Group which operates in Kent, Sussex and London, in 2017 as an administrative assistant and was promoted to the role of legal secretary. She has become a valued member of the team due to her determination, conscientiousness and sharp eye for detail.

In her role as paralegal, Ellie is responsible for undertaking legal research, drafting legal documents and liaising with clients. She also manages Loch Law solicitors’ Employment Tribunal deadlines and is heavily involved in their preparation. More recently, she helped to develop a new debt collecting service for Loch Associates’ clients.

Throughout the pandemic, when there was an increase in HR activities at Loch Associates, Ellie stepped in as an HR advisor. She took this role on in addition to her existing responsibilities, working on payroll and background screening, and continues to offer support to the HR team now.

Ellie said: “It is such an honour to receive the ‘Paralegal of the Year’ award from the Law Society’s junior law division. The team at Loch Law have supported my development from the beginning.

“My colleagues have been great advisors and role models – many of whom started their careers at Loch Associates much like me. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the team to provide an excellent service for our clients.”

Pam Loch, managing director at Loch Associates Group, added: “Ellie is truly deserving of the title Paralegal of the Year.

“She is an optimistic and diligent member of our team, and her dedication has seen her climb the ranks at Loch Associates. She is a true credit to our business and has a bright future in law.”

The Kent Junior Lawyers Division offers a range of events of interest to junior members of the legal profession, from those recently embarking on a path of legal study to solicitors with up to five years of post-qualification experience.

The division holds events to assist professional development and networking opportunities, and invites guest speakers to address members on legal matters.
