As the UK looks to set ever-more ambitious carbon emission targets, there is growing interest in how regional businesses can embrace eco-initiatives to help the planet.
The event takes place via Zoom on Friday 22 October – just over a week before Glasgow plays host to COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, which has prioritised securing net zero emissions by 2050.
The Coastal West Sussex Race to Net Zero Conference is to be chaired by James Dempster, managing director of Brighton marketing agency Fox & Bear.
James will be joined by business leaders and environmental campaigners from across the region, including Andrew Griffith MP, Arundel and South Downs: UK’s Net Zero Business Champion; Steve Read, director of environment and public protection, West Sussex County Council; Sam Zindel, managing director, Propellernet / founder, Low Carbon Leaders; and Zoe Osmond, director, Clean Growth UK.
Caroline Wood, director at Coastal West Sussex Partnership, said: “We are thrilled with the line-up for this event and have some leading voices who are keen to share their knowledge and experience.
“This is an opportunity for Sussex businesspeople to put their heads together and learn from those who are already making a difference.
“From record-breaking temperatures to extreme rainfall, the time for action is now if we’re to protect our beautiful region and the planet.
“This is just the start of a conversation, there will be two further events, the next on the 8 December where, through collaborating as a community, we can create a stronger and unified response along with some tangible interventions that will have a positive climate impact on our area.”
