Champagne was on ice for the formal launch of Kent’s largest law firm that has set up offices at Discovery Park in Sandwich.
Cripps Harries Hall, which has just merged with Vertex, invited guess from across the county to the event, which followed in the wake of the being awarded £6million Building Foundations for Growth funding by the government towards attracting a diverse range of companies to the location.
Senior partner Michael Stevens, said: “Discovery Park is an exciting place to be. The mix of businesses here are clustered in the bio-tech pharmaceutical and life science sectors and this fits very well with the skill sets of a number of our lawyers, in particular Irfan Baluch, who heads up the East Kent team.”
Partner Irfan Baluch advises on all matters relating to information technology, including intellectual property and e-commerce law. As a former software developer he has first-hand experience of the field.
“Clearly science and technology are embedded in this site both historically and for the future, and that is one of the reasons I am heading up this initiative – it is in my blood,” explained Mr Baluch. “However we are a full service law firm and this office will offer a full range of legal services including real estate, corporate and commercial law as well as advice for private clients.
“We look forward to working with and supporting our fellow businesses and individuals both on Discovery Park and in East Kent.”
