TV football pundit and former Everton and West Ham striker Tony Cottee took time out to support a charity golf day organised by a Kent-based housebuilder – which raised nearly £14,000 for two charities.
The event was held at Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club in Ticehurst, East Sussex, by Bellway Kent, which has its divisional head office in Kings Hill.
Fifteen teams – made up of staff at Bellway Kent as well as sub-contractors, colleagues and friends – took to the course to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Demelza Children’s Hospice. Tony Cottee competed in one of the teams, as well as compering a charity auction after the event.
Mark Harrop, sales director for Bellway Kent, said: “We are so pleased with the success of the golf day and want to thank everyone who attended this fantastic event. We’d also like to thank Tony for taking part and entertaining us back at the 19th.
“We have an excellent relationship with both Cancer Research UK and Demelza Children’s Hospice, and we are looking forward to building on this in the future.
“We are committed to supporting these two charities which both do such important work in the communities in which we build our new homes.”
Over the past two years, staff at Bellway Kent have organised various fundraising events, resulting in a total of £35,376 being donated to Cancer Research UK.
