The University of Kent is the Commercial University of the Year after winning a national award for the quality of its commercial services.

Kent’s winning entry to the 2018 CUBO (College and University Business Officers) awards highlighted how its various commercial activities contribute significantly both to the University’s financial performance and the economy of the South East through local employment and the provision of residential and catering services, conferences and events.

Kevin Stuckey, Kent’s director of commercial services, said the combination of an excellent offering and on-going investment across the University’s various services – Kent Hospitality, Kent Sport, Gulbenkian and University of Kent Music – were the key to success.

“But this important accolade is first and foremost a great credit to our highly dedicated staff, who work so hard to provide all our students, staff and visitors with consistently high standards of service and experience – so I thank each and every one of them,” he said.

The winners of the 2018 CUBO awards were announced on 27June as part of the three-day annual CUBO Summer conference at Manchester Metropolitan University.
